Racism in La Liga has been an issue brought to the forefront this season, especially with Vinicius Jr. It is the seventh time La Liga has taken such action over racist abuse directed at the Madrid forward.
A La Liga statement on Thursday read: In view of the racist insults directed towards Vinicius Jr during the Real Betis Real Madrid match on Sunday, March 5, LaLiga has sent a complaint to the Seville Court of Instruction in order to identify the person responsible and to take the appropriate legal measures.
Vinicius Jr has been the subject of racist abuse on multiple occasions in Spain this season, withReal Valladolidas well as Atletico Madrid and Real Mallorca having targeted the 22-year-old Brazilian.
In February,Valladolidsuspended 12 club members for abusingVinicius Jrduring a league fixture in December.
Valladolid have identified those who racially abused Vinicius Jr and confirmed today that they will serve a three-and-a-half-year suspension on their season tickets.
A statement read: The Social Disciplinary Body of Real Valladolid has received the proposed sanction from the Instructor for the persons identified by the Police for uttering racist insults towards the Real Madrid player, Vinicius Junior, during the match between the two teams at the Estadio Jose Zorrilla on 30 December.
The incidents have been classified as very serious and the sanctions imposed by the Club are three and a half seasons suspension of the season ticket of each of them, in application of the Internal Regulations for Season Ticket Holders and Spectators in General.
As stated on previous occasions, Real Valladolid will have zero tolerance for this type of behaviour, with the aim of eradicating it completely.
Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti came out and addressed the issue in January when he said: Vinicius is the victim of something I dont understand.
It is a problem of Spanish football and I am part of Spanish football and it is a problem that we have to solve.
